32nd Laureates' Days Katya Popova

From 8th October to 25th October 2024, the 32nd edition of the International Music Festival “Laureates’ Days Katya Popova” will take place. The festival was established in 1966 as an annual musical celebration featuring laureates. Since its third edition, the festival has been named after the opera prima Katya Popova (1924–1966), who was one of its founders and participants in the first edition. The Laureates’ Days present the achievements of the new generation in European and global performing arts, as well as the successes of Bulgarian vocal and instrumental schools. Festival Programme

8th October, Katya Popova Hall, 7 PM

The festival will open with the concert “Rachmaninoff Mozart.” Admission is free, but invitations can be collected from the Pleven Philharmonic’s box offices.

Performers: Pleven Philharmonic, Gena Dimitrova Municipal Choir – Pleven, conductor Anelia Decheva, and soloists.

Programme:

Piano Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, with soloist Sergei Davidchenko (piano), First Prize winner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition (Russia).
“Requiem” by W. A. Mozart, with soloists Marina Shahdinarova (soprano), Vesela Yaneva (mezzo-soprano), Reynaldo Droz (tenor), and Viktor Krastev (bass).
Conductor: Piotr Jaworski (Poland), First Prize winner of the Karl Oesterreicher Competition.
On 9th October, at 7 PM, the concert will also be performed at Bulgaria Hall in Sofia.
